Cabin Efjord is an acclaimed country home designed by Snorre Stinessen for a Norwegian couple who wanted to live in harmony with the surrounding landscape. Built to blend in with its environment, this retreat reflects the couple’s wish that their home become a natural extension of the breathtaking scenery. The layout of the cabin’s rooms follows the path of the sun, ensuring optimal light throughout the day while maximizing views of the mountains and fjords.

Most of the exterior walls are made of glass, giving nature a central role in both the interior design and daily life within the home. This transparency immerses residents and guests in the ever-changing panorama outside, allowing them to experience the splendor of Norway’s rugged beauty up close. In keeping with this theme, the interior relies on raw materials—wood, glass, concrete, and stone surfaces—to reinforce a warm, organic feel.

One of the property’s most striking features is the glass-walled sauna. Its sleek design showcases the surrounding landscape, while a round  HUUM HIVE electric sauna heater rests in the corner, providing soothing warmth. This heater also serves as a visual highlight, illustrating the harmonious blend of modern design and the enduring beauty of nature.

Cabin Efjord is a striking example of architecture that respects its setting, using minimalist style and thoughtfully chosen materials to celebrate the majesty of Norway’s fjords and mountains.
